Caterpillar Class
2’s & young 3’s
Welcome to the start of your child’s preschool years! We know this can be an emotional time for families, and we truly understand. Creating the best experience for your child begins with a strong partnership between families and teachers.
Our goal is to provide a warm, nurturing, and safe environment where children feel secure as they learn to engage with others and grow in confidence. Being two is an exciting time of discovery, and through play, children explore new challenges at their own pace. We follow each child’s natural curiosity to build confidence, relationships, and a strong foundation for future learning.
Weekly themes
Each class consists of its own weekly theme, so that your child has something new to anticipate with each coming week.
Hands-on activities
Our activities are thoughtfully designed to keep your child engaged through creative, interactive learning experiences that support curiosity, focus, and a love of learning while building important early skills.
In our Caterpillar class, circle time provides experience for our two year olds to develop their sitting and listening skills. At the beginning of the year, we will start with short time periods that will increase with the group's maturity. Some of the activities the children will be participating in are: stories, songs, finger-puppet plays, games and flannel board stories. It is also a time to talk with the children about themes, holidays, and special events.
At our preschool, your child does not have to be toilet trained to enter the two or three year old class. After discussions between parents and teachers, when it is determined that your child is ready to begin toilet training, we will support both parents and your child in any way we can to help ensure success.
Engage their
growing curiosity
The foundation for academic learning is rooted in play. Activities in this class support your child's learning while using different kinds of materials from nature and the everyday world. The children are encouraged to use their senses as they work with these materials. There are also many kinds of age-appropriate art projects, puzzles, games, dramatic play, blocks, trucks and trains that encourage working together. All of our activities and material are designed for cognitive and social development. They are presented in playful, fun-filled themes that draw curiosity and support learning.
